Kennedy Blades vs Bella Mir - Women's Wrestling's Biggest Match
Kennedy Blades and Bella Mir finally meet at RAF Abu Dhabi in a long-awaited superfight with RAF Middleweight gold on the line.

RAF Abu Dhabi will play host to the superfight that’s a long time coming. The match that was finally supposed to take place at Final X is now a go for one of the biggest cards of the year. It’s Kennedy Blades and it’s Bella Mir and it’s on for November 14!
Kennedy Blades is the current and future of women’s wrestling. Bella Mir is the “wrestler-first” future of all women’s combat sports. The two have never shared the mat together until RAF Abu Dhabi when the two roads finally collide.
At 23 years old Kennedy Blades has smiled and slammed her way into being the most dominant woman in women’s wrestling. At RAF alone she’s arguably the most successful athlete on-roster with a perfect 6-0 record.
A lot of points are scored in Blades matches but never by her opponents.
Blades has completed all six wins by tech fall and has never surrendered a point. She has been on the mat with some of the best names in the sport and laid waste to them all without even having to dip all the way into her bag of tricks but her run of dominance can most certainly be put to the test when she toes the line with Mir.
Mir may not have the exact hardware that Blades does and she doesn’t have the perfect RAF record but she’s the biggest challenge Blades has faced to date and isn’t coming for the hopes of a “right place, right time” pin. She’s coming with intentions to stop Blades decisively.
With combat sports deeply embedded in her DNA, Mir was one of the most hyped women wrestlers in the sport coming into the launch of Iowa women’s wrestling. Simultaneously she was also the talk of women’s MMA. She has put herself right next to Blades in the center of NCAA talk at the same time she put herself on Dana White’s radar.
She can strike, her grappling is top-notch and of course, she can wrestle.
The unstoppable force was set to collide with the immovable object at Final X but an injury caused Mir to pull out but the wait ends on November 14.
Blades’ clearest path to victory will be her range and explosive attacks. She’s very well known for her length and speed and can utilize these advantages to one-up Mir’s positioning and offense as well as make up any mistakes, of which there virtually are none, that she may make.
She can also look to capitalize when Mir presses forward. Blades has dealt with almost no offense of any sort at RAF and while the unfamiliarity may seem like an advantage for Mir, Blades has air-tight defense and is actually an expert at turning errant attacks from opponents into her own offense.
If Mir pushes aggressively, Blades will look to counter with well-timed attacks and convert any forward pressure into openings and openings into points.
For Mir, she needs to make the match a “close-range” scrap. She’s one of the most physical and relentless opponents Blades has ever faced and she can disrupt Blades’ rhythm by fighting inside for position and controlling ties. Mir is one of the few who can seriously hinder any chance of explosive attacks from the RAF Middlewight champ in this way.
She can also look to defend the first attack and counter. Blades is going to be just as aggressive as Mir likes to be but Mir can turn the match on its head by allowing her in and countering.
Blades is at her most effective when she gets to her opponents legs. Mir needs to defend the initial attack, maintain her balance and look for counterattacks rather than overcommitting offensively out of desperation.
It’s one of the few times in either of their careers where both women have the ability to take the other out as well as being upset. They could have a shocking finish, blow for blow match or a dominant showing. We almost got to see it before but it’s officially, finally here. Live from RAF Abu Dhab with RAF Middleweight gold on the line.
