Breakdown: R1: Maroulis, 3-0 | R2: Maroulis, 1-0 | R3: Maroulis, 2-0
Helen opened with pace and precision. First period, she hit a right-side single and turned it into a slick trip finish for two. Stewart couldn’t generate offense, and Helen added a shot clock point to go up 3–0 heading into the second.
Second period stayed mostly in the center. Stewart held strong position, but couldn’t crack Helen’s ties. Maroulis used a Russian tie to create forward motion and earned a step out. She looked to drag from front head late, but ran out of time. Controlled period.
Third period opened up a bit. Stewart looked to create off drags. Helen responded with a foot sweep attempt, then went deep on a double—clean entry, covered the hips, and scored it. She stood to look for a leg lace but couldn’t finish it. Stewart got to a single leg late, but time ran out before she could bring it to the mat.
Textbook performance. Controlled every exchange. Never let it get loose.
